What size ramp do I need for my van?

Choosing the ideal ramp size can sometimes pose a bit of a challenge, but we've simplified the process to make it as effortless as possible for our customers. Our goal is to provide a straightforward solution to help determine the ideal single-stage rest-on van ramp for your vehicle, so alongside our calculator, we offer a diverse range of sizes to accommodate various vans, as well as bespoke ramps which you can find out more about here.

To calculate the minimum recommended ramp length simply multiply the floor (loading) height by 3.3 or refer to the calculator below. To ensure optimal safety and functionality, we recommend the ramp gradient does not exceed 30% (16.5°). Maximum recommended floor heights for our single-stage ramps can be found in the product specifications section.

Based on the length calculated in the example, the most suitable ramp choice would be our 2100mm long RR7 to not exceed the gradient recommendation.

We offer rest-on van ramps in four different standard widths, so measure the item that will be loaded to determine your needed width, keeping in mind that the internal width is 50mm narrower than the overall width of the ramp (details available in the product specification section). Get in touch with our experts if you require a wider ramp than we offer as standard.

Determining the ideal fixed folding van ramp size involves additional considerations compared to our rest-on van ramps.

Our folding van ramps are fixed to the van floor and there must be enough clearance vertically within the van to allow the ramp and plate to fit in. We also need to determine that the recommended ramp is able to be fully deployed and that there are no obstructions.

You can find the fitted vertical height of each folding ramp in the ramp specifications, and you can follow the same calculator to calculate the ideal length, however, to avoid any uncertainty or errors in the order process, we've developed a solution using a Jotform.

You can fill out the form before placing an order (find it here), request a form by getting in touch or we’ll send it after you complete your purchase. The measurements and pictures you provide us in the form will be passed on to our technical design team, who will use them to determine which ramp size will be the perfect fit for your van by putting it through our drawing software. They will be able to make sure that the ramp will fit in the van and give a suitable angle for loading.
